C9 Blog

WOW!  I can't believe it's been almost four weeks since our last post.  Paul and I, along with the entire Cirrhus9 crew, have been extremely busy with all sorts of things.

We were up at Amazon, in Seattle, on the 19th and 20th.  It was a great experience and we met some really great people from around the country, other SI's, software developers and such.  We got a lot of great ideas, learned some really cool stuff and made some nice business contacts that will hopefully last for a long time.  Not to mention that we finally got to meet some people, that we've had long time phone / email relationships, personally.  Deepak Singh and Justin Burks are just two of the great people that are working with us very diligently, in just about every aspect you can think of, as are all the rest of the Amazon staff.  They are always energetic and just fun to be around.  It's always a great environment to work in and brainstorm.

Then, last week, we went up to Orange County to visit with our friends at 3Tera.  Another great group of people that are working with us behind the scense as well, to really help us develop some outstanding business solutions that we will be able to implement for our customers.

So, just to sum up, we have a lot of really cool things in the works, both in the Private and Public Cloud arena. Some of which will be coming very soon, others that are a bit more "long term".  All of which, In the end, will benefit our clients and the people in our ecosystem.

Stay tuned, things are just starting to heat up!

Well, the February 4th AWS event with Jinesh Varia went off without  a hitch!  Jinesh did a quick overview of the AWS services, for the newcomers in the room, then began to speak about several different use cases in the Life Science industry.  Protein docking, Genome sequencing and rapid deployment were among the topics covered.   At times, you could see that he really wanted to speak more about some of the cool things being done at bio-tech and pharmaceutical companies around the country but, as he said, he was under NDA.   Understandable and, we were still able to hear about a lot of stuff that he was able to share with us.

Moving forward, we're starting to plan our next event out, which will happen in mid to late March.  It will feature 3Tera's AppLogic.   AppLogic is a great tool that we use to build virtual private data centers in the Cloud for our customers.  Working closely with the 3Tera team, we will tailor the event to cover implementation in the Life Sciences.  We're excited about bringing this technology to the Bio-tech and Pharmaceutical community and look forward to presenting this to everyone that is interested.

OK, so you may now be saying "aren't AppLogic and AWS competing products?"   The best answer is "yes and no".  Both of them provide excellent cloud computing solutions but each one excels in some very specific areas that the other one does not.   Areas that don't really compete with each other.   We provide solutions using both products, based on the needs and wants of each individual customer.

We would be happy to show AppLogic to anyone who's interested, just contact us and we'll make it happen.

The next few weeks are going to be a lot of fun!  We have so many different things going on, it's impossible to list them all here but, suffice it to say, we're going to be "Busier then hop farmers in the summer time" to quote a distinguished colleague of mine.   New offerings, new partners and new business solutions, just to tease you a bit, along with the same great customer service we always provide to our clients and community.

Well, I'm going to wrap this up now.  I want to say thanks to Jinesh Varia, Jeff Barr and Deepak Singh from Amazon for all their help and support over the past few weeks.   They have been instrumental in bringing both Dr. Vogels and Jinesh Varia to the events and we look forward to working closely with them again in the very near future on some exciting projects!
