Amazon Web Services finishes their SAS 70 II audit
It's been a long time coming but, Amazon finally finished their SAS 70 II audit.
To qoute their website:
"Amazon Web Services has successfully completed a Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS70) Type II Audit, and has obtained a favorable unbiased opinion from its independent auditors. SAS70 certifies that a service organization has had an in-depth audit of its controls (including control objectives and control activities), which in the case of AWS relates to operational performance and security to safeguard customer data. AWS will continue efforts to obtain the strictest of industry certifications in order to verify its commitment to provide a secure, world-class cloud computing environment."
This is a great step forward for everyone using, or thinking about using, AWS for their Cloud computing needs. Piece of mind is the biggest gain here and the conversations around security can now focus on the architecture of the application(s) and / or setup of the VPC, instead of the data center and physical hardware.
Now, Cirrhus9 customers not only have access to our Qualified Machine Images (QMI™) on AWS, those QMI™ instances now run on a SAS 70 II environment.
Too cool!
